The party was founded in 1925. Hermann Suhrau and Adolf Monien served as chairmen of the party.〔 In the 1927 election, the party got 3900 votes (7.2%) and won two seats in the parliament of the territory.〔(Memelgebiet: Wahl zum 2. Landtag 1927 )〕 Little is known about the group, and its relations with the German and Lithuanian communist parties.
